Michael Baker's Padre Dam Eastern Service Area Secondary Connection Project (ESASCP) was recognized by ACEC California with a 2019 Merit Award.
Michael Baker was the prime design consultant for the $13 million project, which provides reliable and sustained access to water for nearly 30,000 local residents, even in cases of natural disaster or other emergencies. Our design includes a supply and discharge pipeline, forebay reservoir, pump station, flow control facility, standby generator and instrumentation and control systems.
Our team was responsible for coordinating efforts among three major water agencies: Padre Dam, the San Diego County Water Authority and Helix Water District. We worked with each agency to learn its unique standards, protocol and equipment to ensure collaboration and plan for cooperatively-used systems.
The ESASCP is a capital improvement associated with the San Diego County Water Authority’s East County Regional Treated Water Improvement Program, the largest capital improvement program in Padre Dam to date.
