Baker International's Schlesinger Appointed Vice-Chair of ACEC Committee

Pittsburgh (March 10, 2014) - Michael Baker International Vice President Capt. Bob Schlesinger, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, U.S. Navy (Retired) has been appointed to the position of Co-Vice Chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Federal Agencies & Procurement Advocacy Committee. Schlesinger’s term will begin during the ACEC Annual Convention, April 27-30, 2014 in Washington, D.C.

Schlesinger’s role will be to contribute to fulfilling the goals for this committee to promote ACEC’s business and legislative objectives with federal agencies to enhance and protect the industry, promote enhanced infrastructure financing at federal agencies, and establish and/or maintain communications and partnering agreements as appropriate with federal agencies regarding procurement, contracting and best practices.

“Bob’s extensive government experience and knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) funding and procurement processes will be a benefit to both ACEC and Baker International,” said Dave Martin, senior vice president, Federal Division manager at Baker International. “Balanced procurement policies will allow for the engineering community to continue being competitive and profitable across the spectrum of Federal Government programs.”

Schlesinger is currently vice president and Navy/Marine Corps Business Development Leader for Baker International’s DoD Market. He is a retired Navy Captain with 29 years of service, and was the Commanding Officer of NAVFAC Northwest and the Navy Region Northwest Director of Facilities and Environment prior to joining Baker in 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering in the states of Washington and Rhode Island.
